Fall colors tinge this photograph with a deep glory. The early morning sun has risen over the trees and a wisp of mist washes the valley with coolness. The foreground is carpeted with crimson; a struggling fence line, worn by the decades, leads to a traditional wooden homestead. This house is still occupied, a living memorial to the American pioneer spirit. It has seen much hard work over the years, through the seasons and the steady descent of generations. The reward, for the occupants, was a life lived far from the stress of the city. The beauty of nature was as close as their front door.
